Petite Little Black Dress

The Fashion Eternal - the LBD

The Little Black Dress is possibly the only thing that is never out of fashion.  How could it be?  Whether a simple, Audrey Hepburn-esque shift, like the one above by Karen Gillam Petite, to something embellished like the one from Minuet Petite, below, to the ruffled and embellished little numbers in the following pages, the LBD can work for any woman of any shape and any age.

We often kid ourselves that separates are easier to wear, especially if we've got the odd curve to finesse, but look again at the Karen Gillam Petite pieces above.  The pencil skirt and vest top look fabulous, but the LBD is especially slimming, both because of its colour, but also because it skims over curves to produce a sleek line.  But the LBD can only work this magic if the fit is perfect.  That means a petite cut, with the bust, waist and hips in the right position.

Versatility is Key

The LBD is amazingly veratile.  A simple style, like the example from Minuet Petite above, is the perfect day-to-evening piece.  With a jacket or cardigan it can be chic in the office, but just add the right accessories and the LBD can take you anywhere in style!
