I have found exactly the same problem as you.  In the 80's I used to be a size 10 ( I still wear a Hobbs size 10 skirt from that era), in the 90's it went down to an 8, and now I find it a struggle to find size 6's small enough to fit.  In Gap I'm a 0!

I'm 44 years old, exactly 5 foot and have always weighed between 6 stone 12 and 7 stone 4.  My waist is thicker after having children.  I'm not disappearing but am finding it so frustrating to find clothes to fit.  I also find the petite ranges are often so dull, with limited colour ranges and hideous fabrics.  Finding shoes is the biggest struggle of all, with sandals topping the hard to find list.  Any feedback and help gratefully received,

Pippa from London

Hello Yasmin,

I am a Petite Model and just wanted to say - brilliant site! Really wonderful! Thank you for putting this up.

I found your size zero page very interesting, as I myself am below zero and don't look ill. I wondered if you could tell me which shops take part in petite catwalk as I've always wanted to catwalk but - obviously at half an inch over 5' - have never had the chance. I am determined to at some point, and to try and make petite modelling a more challenging and respected business in fashion.

Thank you,
Josephine xxx

Is it really worth using a personal shopper in a department store if you are petite?  I'd like to try, but I know all the petite companies, so how could they come up with anything new or surprising?

Take a look at our Reader Reviewer page this month to see what one woman found when she tried a personal shopper service.  In my own experience, a good personal shopper may know of non-petite labels with a petite-friendly cut (a Selfridges personal shopper recommended Ronit Zilkha and LK Bennett to me), and if nothing else you'll get an objective eye to appraise your own personal style.
